Beautiful Chelsea

Family photos on Sunday – Sept 19th in Denver.  We had a record heat day, but started in the morning before the heat hit for some great photos of beautiful Chelsea and her parents.  She was just starting to sit up and wasn’t so sure of the cool stone at Civic Center Park in Denver – but she lasted long enough to get some really sweet photos.  Of course the biggest smiles were reserved for her mom and dad – she just beamed every time they smiled at her.

Rhegan & Kenleigh

A million expressions from Ms. Kenleigh!

This session was the first time I had a chance to meet Kenleigh… but, I’ve photographed Rhegan, Jennifer, Tony and their family many times over the past 5+years.  I always find it so nice to see kids and families grow!

We had rescheduled our session due to rain a week earlier, but so happy to have a nice evening for their session and the clouds broke way for a very yellow setting sun.  We hung out by the local pond until the light was just right and got a few images with the little ladies (and a few family photos too).

Matilda Jane Trunk Show

Matilda Jane Clothing : Photography by Jeanine Thurston

I spent a couple hours at Yvette’s house this weekend where she was having a Matilda Jane trunk show – hosted by Lauren Murchison, and it was so much fun.  I little wine & cheese… some cute girls clothing (for little girls and big girls too), and everyone just sat around to chat and look at all the fun clothing.  Just wanted to share a few photos of her beautiful daughter Maya in some of the Matilda Jane clothing!

New addition to the Carabetta family.

I photograph a lot of newborn babies, as I’m sure many of you know.   So it is hard to explain the excitement I had the past few days waiting to photograph Charlie – the new addition to the beautiful Carabetta family.   There are just some sessions that you anticipate being one of those really fun/great sessions and I was not disappointed in the least.  As always Ms. Issabella showed true to her self with the photogenic girl she is – with a glowing personality and always a huge smile.  And Matt & Jen were beaming with pride over their new son Charlie.  I was so anxious to share a few images with everyone… and of course more to come – but this is one session I couldn’t wait to put up on display.  And, if you have a few mintues… please visit my link to the Dizzie Izzie clothing line that Jen has too!

Angels.

Angel Portraits

Angel Portrait Sessions

I probably did my first angel wing session around 18 years ago.   Trends come and go and while angel sessions use to be on a backdrop with big smiles at the camera, we have found a better place for our children with wings images – as timeless pieces of art for hallways, bathrooms, living & dining rooms.  I even had a client recently hang a beautiful piece in the hallway of their office.  While I am still happy to do the angel shots on a studio backdrop, there are so many more locations for sessions like this – and it is really fun to become creative on location so that the images we come up with are something you will want on your walls for years to come; and no matter how hold your child gets.  A private garden, an old broken down fence, a stone or brick wall can all serve as great locations for an child angel session.   I would love to help you with some great ideas – so that you can have something unique hanging on your walls.

Angel Portraits

Jessica, Grace & Amanda

Three sisters, three beautiful girls and what an amazing group to photograph.  I’ve photographed them a few times over the past years… but hadn’t seen them in some time – and they were amazing to photograph this week.  Each one with such a different look and personality – I can’t wait to get them in for more sessions.  I get so excited to photograph for my clients over the years, and especially when I get to see them grow up right before my eyes.  We worked on some head shots  for them and then took advantage of the beautiful light around the studio.  While we had a little snowstorm the night before – mom and dad were great and trekked out in the icy roads on Sunday morning to get to the studio and it was a great session.

Puttkammer family

puttkammerIt was such a cold day in Denver today, and while a few of my sessions were rescheduled – The Puttkammer family was more than willing to brave the cold for an hour of photography time.  I can’t believe how the time passes… as I had photographed their wedding a few years ago, maternity and newborn… and now Jake is a year old already.  We had a fun few shots near Union Station in Denver and then a quick stop by the park too, before it was turning our noses red.  It was such great lighting this afternoon with just a few snowflakes falling during our session you could feel winter coming.

Kelly, Matt & Ella

Ella1

I was so happy to see Matt & Kelly this morning.  I’ve photographed for their families for a few years now and I photographed their wedding out in California a few years ago too, so I was so excited to meet Ella their daughter.  She is beautiful! Ella2tears I fell in love with a lot of images, but the one here with the tear on her cheek is not what it would seem.  While many times we have to work between toddlers being upset about one thing or another, this image was simply a product of the cool morning this morning – and yet the way she was looking at me for this shot just breaks your heart.  I could say it was because we took her baby doll away from her or her sippy cup (which happened later in the session) but reality is “just timing.”  Ella3

The image here in the tree however was Ella’s location of choice.  With her persuasive way, she had mom & dad climbing the tree too… but in the end she was the one happiest perched there.Ella5

Then of course, it is hard not to notice what a “daddy’s girl” little miss Ella is – she is so sweet on Matt it just makes you smile.  And, she constantly had an eye out so she knew mom was close.Ella6Ella4Ella7 You have to love mornings like this photographing with people that are so happy to be a family.Ella8

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Family Portraits on Wisconsin Point

IMG_4633Growing up next to Lake Superior, the weather is almost always unexpected – and I was actually happy that during this session we had a full fog over the shore.  It has been many years since I had been down to Wisconsin Point and the last time I had gone to visit they had the road to the light house under construction so we didn’t get a chance to go down to the point.  I was a little dissappointed when I arrived, as when I walked out onto the beach I couldn’t even see the lighthouse the fog was so thick… on the other hand, there was no bright sun to contend with either so it left me with mixed feelings.  I was there to photograph Sandy’s family, a friend I had went to school with in Superior – she is married and has 4 beautiful children, and I think it has been nearly 18-20 years since I had last seen her… she is still the same, always a big smile that makes you instantly smile back.  Her family is no exception – everyone was up for some fun… even in the cold water with they jeans and shoes on for her youngest son.  It was a super fun session and thanks to Facebook we have been able to keep in touch just as of recently.IMG_4771IMG_4816IMG_4847IMG_4748

Avery

09_08_27_Huisken__0039This girl is so beautiful… and she is raring to go with her fairly recent walking skills – there was no stopping her for more than a second.  While we caught a few smiling faces along the way –  I was more in love with the constant look of curiosity in little Avery’s eyes.  She was continually looking around to discover new places to “escape” to – and mom was right there at her heals.  I have to identify with her – as my youngest son is nearly the exact same age and just constantly on the move.  I’m super excited to have her as a client… and can’t wait for another session with her – children like Avery give me lots of ideas for portraits.09_08_27_Huisken__0058

The Rowland ladies

I’ve been photographing the Rowlands for a few years now… and it is so great seeing the kids grow.  Skylar has changed so much and I couldn’t believe how big Taylor had grown over the past year too.  Such beautiful girls and talk about stunning eyes on all of them.  I love doing the mother & daugher images too!!!! Denver is such a great place to photograph in… unlimited places right in and near downtown Denver and you wouldn’t even know you are in the the heart of the city right next to a major highway.Rowland2Rowland3Rowland4Rowland1
