Know that a bad day is just a day.

Know that everyone has bad days.

Know that you are not alone.

Know that no matter how bad you may think your day is, tomorrow is a new day with a fresh beginning.

Know that no matter how ugly you feel, everyone has beauty inside and out – because nobody on this planet is like you.  As much as we are all the same, we are also like nobody else in this world and what makes us unique is what makes us beautiful.

Know that when you are having a good day, that another may not ~ so offer a smile and understanding whenever you can.

Know that your voice always matters to someone.

Helpers.

When I was a kid, I was instructed to run across a street to help an elderly women cross the street.  If I saw a neighbor hauling in groceries – told to go help them carry in their groceries.  When someone came home, I was to jump up and run out to the car to see if someone needed help bringing anything into the house.  You don’t just hold the door open for the person is directly behind you for them to follow you in, you actually hold the door and let the person behind you in first.  When you are in a grocery line, if someone only has a few items, you allow them to go in front of you.  When you are crossing the street and you see a car coming up or one waiting for you at a cross walk you pick up the pace and run/quick walk at minimum to get across the street faster so that they can continue on their way.  You drive in the slow lane and only go in to the middle or fast lane to pass others.

Does any of this ring a bell?  Last week I decided to take a week to observe, at my disappointment – people didn’t pick up the pace to cross the street, in face they didn’t even acknowledge I was a car waiting with even a glance… it was like I wasn’t even there.  When I bring home groceries, nobody runs out to help me carry anything in,  the young man at the gym didn’t even hold the first door (although my youngest did rush ahead of him and held the door for him – have to give him credit).

As adults I think many have become a bit lazy about concern for others ahead of ourselves.  I tell my children to always look for the Helpers.  There are always Helpers, but now more than ever I feel like I need to work on this with even my own children.  Being aware of our surroundings, and others in need is so important and even I have lost track of that at times.

2014 can be the year we bring more Helpers back.  Here is how you can help.

1. When you use a crosswalk and a car has stopped for you… pick up your pace & wave – they just may have somewhere important to go.

2. When you hear one of your family members come home, send your kids out or yourself to at least ask if they need any help.

3. Take an extra 20 minutes and shovel some of your neighbor’s sidewalk when you are doing yours.

4. Hold the door for another.

Seems simple right?

List some other really simple things that may make another’s life easier or show care for someone that you may not even know.  Not elaborate… SIMPLE… that any or all of us could do.

1,000 FACES

1,000 FACES PROJECT is starting in January 2014.  I’m searching for soles, spirits, and the experiences that have weathered our faces and carved our unique expression.  Each individual will have a few images taken of themselves, and given a few questions to answer.  Model releases will be required.

To participate, we would need about 15-30 minutes of your time on select dates in-studio.

I’m looking for all ages.  Most will be taken at our studio in Denver, with a select few taken on location.

No images will be released for viewing until we complete 1,000 FACES.

Please contact me directly at jeanine@fototails.com with 1000 FACES in the subject line if you are interested in participating.

Imagination Series

A moment to imagine, play, and be who they really are – be it princess or ninja, allows us to dream bigger and better when we are adults.  When you enter my studio doors, or arrive at one of our on-location dream-lands, we want you to let your child dance, twirl, and play.  And we want you to observe and reminisce about when you were that age…. it is one of the greatest joys of being a parent and/or grandparent.  Our child’s imagination time creates a little portal in time allowing us to forget the every day life even if only for a few minutes and remember the freedom of dreaming big.

To be a child.

We can’t let go of what it feels like to be a child.  It is what keeps us young, it is what gives us hope, it is what makes us believe in people, and it is what allows us to chase after our dreams. If you want to be inspired by love and life – give a child a stage. ~ Jeanine Thurston

Mommy Make-overs & Hot Mommy days at the studio

We all need to take a little time for ourselves.  The yoga pants and sweat pants are staples in my closet as with many other moms.  Because we take on the world every day,   we think that we are somewhat less beautiful than we really are.

I think sometimes our mirror just doesn’t work right.  We need to be reminded about how beautiful we really are – and sometimes that takes being shown how others really see us.  That is what our mommy make-over days are all about.

It’s ok to sport the comfortable look – it is how we get through our days.  But on the off chance that you want to be reminded that others see you as you really are – beautiful inside out – a hot mommy day at the studio may be just the thing for you.  Besides – then you are all dolled up, it would call for a night out or a romantic lunch out with a special someone… or with you best friend.  Trust me – it feels good to have an all about you day to freshen up your spirits.

So let it be an excuse to go shopping… pick out something over the top amazing, from lingerie to a cute/sexy dress… anything that you would LOVE to wear but haven’t had a reason because you’ve been running kids to soccer games, wiping food off faces, or changing diapers.

If you have any questions or are interested in scheduling your mommy make-over – give us a call or e-mail (720)566-9770 or e-mail info@fototails.com
